Si chiama “Shady XV” ed è la nuova compilation targata Marshall Mathers, in arte Eminem, in uscita il prossimo 24 novembre [1].
Annunciato lo scorso 3 Giugno, con un laconico tweet che recitava semplicemente “Shady XV”, il doppio album conterrà alcuni dei più grandi successi del rapper di Detroit, come “Lose Yourself” e “In Da Club”, oltre a materiale completamente inedito e composto in collaborazione con alcuni fedelissimi di sempre come gli Slaughterhouse, Yelawolf e Skylar Grey.
Una celebrazione in grande stile delle origini della Shady Records, che si accinge a compiere 15 anni di attività all’interno del music-biz e le 15 pubblicazioni dell’etichetta discografica. Nulla di meglio di una compilation celebrativa, dove a trovare spazio saranno tutti gli artisti della label, oltre a quelli già citati e a brani evergreen dell’hip-hop.
50 Cent, Obie Trice, Ca$his, Stat Quo oltre, naturalmente, al “king” Eminem, comporranno un parterre d’eccezione per la ricorrenza che sembra promettere fin da ora una degna celebrazione in ambito musicale e di riscontro presso il pubblico. I fan restano già in trepida attesa, dopo aver potuto ascoltare il primo singolo, “Guts Over Fear” cantata assieme a Sia, ed il secondo “Detroit vs. everybody”, una sorta di city anthem appena rilasciata su iTunes con la partecipazione di Royce Da 5’9’’, Big Sean, Danny Brown, Trick Trick e la giovane esordiente Dej Loaf.
Versi come al solito duri, quelli di un Eminem che ha da poco compiuto 42 anni e che tiene ancora scena e palco come un ragazzino carico di grinta ed entusiasmo, come se questi quindici anni fossero passati soltanto come una mera formalità anagrafica e null’altro. Fedele al suo stile midwest e al suo sopraffino lirismo tecnico che l’ha reso il numero uno della scena rap, contribuendo a fargli vendere oltre 150 milioni di dischi, Eminem ha voluto omaggiare i suoi fan storici scegliendo una copertina molto rievocativa, in cui due motoseghe s’incrociano al di sopra di una maschera da hockey, il look utilizzato dal rapper esattamente 15 anni fa, quando durante un tour europeo si presentò sul palco indossando una maschera da hockey e brandendo una motosega.
Un video in freestyle premierato in queste ore sulla piattaforma VEVO, composto assieme agli Slaughterhouse ed a Yelawolf, anticipa quelli che saranno temi, stile e contenuti di quella che sarà la compilation finale, di cui elenchiamo la tracklist [2]:
